Breath Taken – 121.9 x 91.0cm
Oil on canvas
Breath Taken, immerged in the joy of recalling the many encounters with whales on the Northern Beaches. My love of the ocean and the pure joy and playfulness that it can bring about - even to these majestic mammals - I wanted to capture this feeling in this artwork.
Whales sing to a whole other level of play. And so I did play. Taking a moment to take a breath and connect with nature can do wonders for the soul.
A great, textural tail gracefully splashes the surface of the deep as the majestic mammal dives deep into the blue. Oceanic depths are inspired by an outing with a drone with my neighbour, capturing the movement and light of the ocean with a majestic sweep of layers of paint combined with thick paint application, oil-stick, and more paint. Varnished and ready to hang in an ocean lover's beautiful home.
